I really like the yogurt starter I can add any flavoring I want and have the control of what goes in it. Not like store bought yogurts that have additives and sugars. I can make smoothies with it and is a great snack.

Natren Yogurt Starter really makes the best yogurt. I am originally from Bulgaria and I've missed the tart, refreshing taste of real yogurt for years until I found Natren Yogurt Starter. Bulgarian cuisine calls for plain yogurt in a load of recipes, not to mention the yogurt drink called Ayryan and the cold soup called Tarator. However, none of the yogurts on East Coast market would work since they are lacking ... character. I actually avoided yogurt all together for it tasted so washed-out.
Then, two years ago I found Natren Yogurt Starter. Nowadays, believe it or not, my family of four (two adults, two kids) eats a gallon of homemade yogurt per week. It's tasty, it's healthy and it's cheaper than the "yogurt" you'd buy at the store. Plus, you know exactly what you've put in.
If you make your yogurt plain, you can add any fresh fruit to it. Try it with quartered organic strawberries and some natural sweetener (to eliminate fast-burning carbs). You'll see what I mean :-)

I can't believe I am the first one to review the Yogurt Starter. It makes really fresh, delicious yogurt; better than any plain yogurt available at the store. I used to not like plain yogurt, now I love it.
I make mine with 1% milk and eat it with fresh berries, honey, and granola. My stomach feels so good afterwards, it's truly comfort food. All of the good bacteria coats your mouth and throat with creamy goodness. I think this is the ideal way to get lactobacillus bulgaricus into your stomach.
It's very easy to make. There are many websites that will teach you variations of the process. I invested in a Yogourmet yogurt maker. I get great, consistent results with it but you certainly don't need it to make yogurt. It is over-priced at $50-$60, but I like it and it makes the process easier. Over years of use it pays for itself.
If you are using Natren's products already I heartily encourage you to try the Yogurt Starter and get into making your own yogurt. It's fun!
